The community of Round Rock will soon be welcoming a new family-friendly destination for tourists and city residents alike!  The Kalahari Resort & Convention Center boasts several features that visitors are sure to find inviting, unique, and fun for all ages.  From its 1,000 themed guest rooms to a variety of restaurants and shops, all 350-acres of this one-of-a-kind resort will leave guests feeling as though they have embarked on an African safari.

Shopping and sampling the cuisine are far from the only activities available to those who choose the Kalahari for their family getaway. Visitors will find the 200,000 square feet of waterparks, both indoor and outdoor, are reason enough to return for years to come!  The resort is widely known for its many water activities, including slides, raft rides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and body-boarding.  Indoor and outdoor party bungalows and cabanas are also available for reservation for those who wish to celebrate a special occasion or gather with friends and family.

For guests who may be looking for some rest and relaxation after a day of discovering the waterpark, the location's spa will offer several ways to step away and unwind from the day’s activities.  Visitors can select from a list of refreshing spa services without even having to step off the property!  After experiencing an afternoon at the spa, an evening of cocktails awaits at one of the property’s lounges or opt for further family entertainment, including an arcade, go-karts, and multiple theme park attractions.  Other amenities include a coffee shop, live entertainment, and a 24-hour fitness center.  Overnight guests of the resort can book an appointment with one of the Kalahari’s certified personal trainers free of charge and make the most of the facility’s equipment, ranging from free weights to Free Motion machines.

The resort will also seek to serve the needs of greater Williamson County by providing approximately 150,000 square feet of convention space for area conferences and events.  With a location near the Dell Diamond and Old Settlers Park on US 79, the center is expected to draw thousands to central Texas for local events as well as create 1,200 to 1,500 jobs for those who are a part of the Round Rock community and surrounding areas.

The estimated cost of Kalahari-Round Rock is set at $250 million and is expected to bring in over a million visitors a year. It will be the fourth of its kind in the nation, joining the family of resorts in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. All locations partner with Clean the World, an organization that recycles hygiene products for distribution to the impoverished to prevent hygiene-related illness.

This will be the resort’s first location in the Southwest and is slated to open in 2020.
